Jennifer H. Jaso

Jennifer combines excellent communication skills and attention to detail to create highly productive classroom and training experiences. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from Florida State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Science Education from the University of South Florida, and is Gifted Endorsed. Jen is also currently engaged in course work for a doctorate in the social sciences.Her teaching experiences include Montessori, Gifted, and Title I education. She currently teaches American History, World Geography, and Speech and Debate to seventh and eighth grade students in Sarasota, Florida.

In addition to these teaching skills, Jennifer has been a cheerleading and recreational gymnastics instructor since 1995 and a private tutor for younger children with difficulties in reading. Together these experiences have prepared her to work well with students from all age groups.

Jennifer is a born leader. She is co-coordinator of the Florida History Fair competition at her school, serves as a Curriculum Coordinator for the Social Studies Department, and spearheads her team's annual character-building activities through the Pathfinder organization. She is also a current member of the National Council for Social Studies; the Florida Council for Social Studies; and the National Association for Gifted Children.

Jen's passion for empowering others, subject-matter expertise, and superb listening skills enable her to connect well with classroom and training audiences. She is the consummate professional, possessing a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Science Education from the University of South Florida, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University, Gifted Endorsement, and National Board Certification. She has also completed course work for her Educational Specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. Jen currently assists teachers with the Response to Instruction process in her role as Academic Interventionist.

Jen's honors include being chosen as the 2007-2008 County Teacher of the Year for Sarasota, Florida. She was also selected to be a Rotary Club Group Study Exchange Member to Australia in 2003 and Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Representative to Japan in 2007. Her travel and presentation experiences have provided her with a myriad of contacts and perspectives on issues in education.

Jen also believes in being active at her school and in professional organizations. She is a member of the National Association for Gifted Children, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, the International Reading Association, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. At school she serves as a mentor, trainer, and after-school karate instructor.
